Safety Across Faith and Ethnic Communities Project (SAFE)

SAFE Communities was a three-year project run by Standing Together Against Domestic Violence, seeking to tackle domestic abuse and violence against women and girls by working with and learning from grassroots Black and minoritised and faith communities. Building the capacity of institutions, communities and women meant these groups could become better equipped and more effective in tackling domestic violence and abuse (DVA)

SAFE worked to empower communities to be a part of the Coordinated Community Response to domestic abuse and worked on the premise that it is essential to ensure communities are integral to the response in any locality. Grassroots communities and faith groups have the power and potential to make a real difference in the lives of survivors and hold perpetrators to account.  

We know that most survivors of abuse are likely reach out to friends, family and community networks for help in the earliest stages of the abuse. Grassroots communities and faith groups have the power and potential to make a real difference in the lives of survivors and hold perpetrators to account.
